DeadworldDeadworld

Short Synopsis

Here, we are first introduced to all the key characters of the Deadworld mythos. This synopsis is a little bit short to cover almost 1200 pages of art and story. But is should give you an idea.

The story opened as the world found itself plunged into a supernatural holocaust of unknown origin. Isolated pockets of humanity struggled to survive with little communication among the groups. The fate of the rest of the rest of the world was unsure, they could hope that whatever affected their area was only regional.

The dead had come back to life. Zombies walked the earth but somehow these seemed different than one might imagined. These zombies almost seemed to have a purpose. When it was discovered early on that there were some intelligent zombies, the humans realized the menace was far greater than the late night movies had portrayed.

The opening cast of characters were placed in Louisiana. A group of teens, purposeless,  wandered aimlessly with no idea of where to go or what to do beyond the simple act of surviving. This group ran into a trio of intelligent zombies and succeeding in killing two of them. The surviving zombie would prove to be the most dangerous of the human's enemies. He was pegged with a name early on which as stuck and hence we were introduced to King Zombie.

After the encounter with King Zombie, the group ran into a degenerate fugitive. To their surprise, they found that the almost lunatical fugitive, Deake, had been involved in an arcane scheme to open portals to other dimensions. Deake had the innate capabilities of being a gate-opener, one that can release the restraints of the portal that would allow the evil that revived the dead into this world. However, the opening of the gate was aborted and only a partial amount of the undead energy entered. Deake, through no skill of his own, managed to escape the clutches of King Zombie who wanted him in order to fully open the gates.

King Zombie, thwarted thus far received help from the other side as a sliver of the split between the two dimensions permitted limited access to specific demons. The Grakken were brought over to aid King Zombie in his quest and their speed, strength, and ferocity were more than a match for any human. Deake and the teens were attacked but the teens were surprisingly rescued by a para-military organization.

For the first time since the dead began to walk the earth, the teens felt a sense of hope. The para-military organization seemed efficient, were fully armed, well equipped and had a sense of order.

To the dismay of the teens, they discovered that they were nothing more than prisoners of the group.

The stories dealt with the humans surviving the zombies as well as each other and King Zombie's search for the way to open the gates. . A small band of Lepers were introduced, victims of a bizarre experiment against the zombie plague; The Voodoo Queen competed with King Zombie for control of the zombies, more demons crossed the gate, and the arrival of The Dead-Killer gave King Zombie a worthy opponent.
