Death v#1, #4) one of the seven people introduced in the original group that Deadworld centered on, Mickey was a close friend of Dan’s and it was suspected that he and Dan were dope pushers. However, when the world changed, Mickey did his best to pull his own weight. Young Joey took an instant liking to him as Mickey was patient and understanding with him. Mickey died at the hands of the zombies on the riverboat.
  • Dan McDonald(first appearance v#1, #1) one of the seven people introduced in the original group that Deadworld centered on, Dan proved to be a reckless wild card but someone that proved to be resourceful. Dan Suspected of being a drug pusher previously, along with Mickey, Dan acted mostly out of personal satisfaction at the beginning and attempted to utilize the horrific situation to get Donna in bed. Thought to have been killed on the riverboat in issue 4, Dan made a surprise return in #6 and saved the group from certain death. It was also revealed that Dan had developed a sixth sense about zombies. After the rescue, Dan took more charge of the group and seemed to adjust to the adverse conditions better than most.
Dan leads an attempted escape out of the YMCA, only to be sent to combat against the slasher known as Wolverine. Near dead, he was rescued by Reyna, the mistress of Moloch. Having to provide sexual favors to Reyna, Dan knocked her out and escaped as the city was coming under attack. He snatched Joey and the two headed off. They witnessed the attempt of the Voodoo Queen to take over the zombies but barely managed to escape with their lives from that encounter with King Zombie.

  • Mike Hunter(first appearance v#1, #1. Death v#1, #11)one of the seven people introduced in the original group that Deadworld centered on, John was the appointed leader of the group. Constantly chastising the others for not taking things seriously enough, Mike also was in love with Chris. When Chris was killed, Mike lost a bit of his edge. After the capture by King Zombie and the subsequent loss of three of his fingers, Mike began to defer to Dan as the leader of the group. Mike was a victim of an accident as when he was being questioned by Bowker and Moloch by hanging suspended on a rope over waiting zombies, the rope was released, dropping Mike into the hungry jaws.
  • Chris Powell(first appearance v#1, #1. Death v#1, #4)- one of the seven people introduced in the original group that Deadworld centered on, Chris was at odds with Dan constantly and tried to keep her relationship with Mike from becoming too serious. She died at the hands of the zombies on the riverboat in issue #4.
  • Donna Martin— (first appearance v#1, #1) one of the seven people introduced in the original group that Deadworld centered on, Donna was weak and scared of this new world and succumbed to the bravery and advances of Dan. After the breakout at the YMCA, Donna was stuck with the imbecilic Percy and stunned to find that Dan had seemingly deserted her. Captured by a motorcycle gang, Donna is gang-raped. As she is brought into the gang, Donna realizes that she must fight to survive and she kills the gang leader’s girlfriend and assumes her position. She then makes an effort to prepare herself to survive in this world.
  • Deake(first appearance v#1, #2). Working with a warlock, it was Deake who helped to unleash the gate opening that brought the evil energy that created the new Deadworld. He is on a constant run from the visions that plague him and later, King Zombie who wants to use him to re-open the gates. Deake stumbles across the group and stays with them until King Zombie captures him. When Dan attacks King Zombie during the gate opening attempt, Deake makes his escape. He is captured by Moloch’s men and brought back to the compound. He is considered important, but no one knows why.
  • Justin Lansbury— a name only referred to in issue 5, it was Lansbury who was the warlock that Deake was an apprentice to. He apparently did not survive the opening of the gate.
  • Betty(first appearance v#1, #5. Death v#1, #12). One of the members of the family that the group stays at, she is captured along with her sister, Julie, and held prisoner at the YMCA. When the group makes their first escape attempt, she is shot in the head by the guards to prove how serious they are.
  • Julie— (first appearance v#1, #5. Death v#1, #11). Betty’s sister who was captured and taken to the YMCA. Desperately trying to be friends with Joey, Julie was apparently bitten by a zombie while imprisoned and died before returning as a zombie. She attacked and killed John and was consequently beat to a second death by Joey.
  • Bowker— (first appearance V#1, #7.) Field leader for Moloch, it was Bowker who first came across the group and seemingly rescued them but actually was taking them to the compound to be zombie food. During the battle for the city, Bowker was pinned underneath some rubble and left behind by Moloch and Reyna. Captured by Vamp, Bowker became an obsession for the necrophilliac zombie. Bowker agrees to work with Vamp because she can help him exact revenge against Moloch for deserting him.
  • Punk & Eddie(first appearance V#1, #8). Inseparable goof-ball soldiers serving under Bowker. They spend more time trying to get out of work than actually doing anything. It is their stupidity that allows Mike to drop down the rope to the waiting zombies below.
  • Moloch— (first appearance V #1, #8). The leader of the compound. He keeps Reyna as his mistress but is quite aware that she has her own agenda. He tolerates her because she proves to be resourceful and beneficial. Moloch is seriously injured during the siege of the city and is rescued by Reyna.
  • Reyna(first appearance V#1, #8). The mistress to Moloch, Reyna plays her own power games. She rescues Dan from the clutches of Wolverine and forces Dan to sleep with her, only to have Dan knock her out. During the siege of the city, she rescues Moloch, realizing that he might have some value later.
  • Percy(first appearance V#1, #9). An idiot found in the YMCA, Percy latches onto the group immediately. He seems to take a liking to Joey and stays with Donna when she is separated from Dan during the battle in the city. They are captured by a motorcycle gang and Donna is raped, but the gang leaves Percy alone for the most part, figuring he is too stupid to cause trouble.
  • Wolverine(first appearance V#1, #9) A crazed fighter who bashes zombies for the general entertainment of Moloch’s compound. Demanding a better fight, he is thrilled when Dan is put in the cage with him and nearly kills him before Reyna rescues Dan. Wolverine loves to kill zombies.
  • Voodoo Queen I(first appearance V#1, #15. Death V.1 #16). She could command the zombies but not King Zombie as she mistakenly believed. In attempt to get King Zombie to act as her servant, she suffered her fate directly at the hands of the King.
